Does this mean a Mac FileMaker client could send and receive data from the online version of QuickBooks

No. QBOE cannot be accessed from Mac OS without installing BootCamp or some other virtual instantiation of a Windows OS. Here's irony: Intuit says it's accessible from an iPhone.

Jeffrey -

You have to use scripts in FileMaker Pro to manage the data transfer with QuickBooks. There are a couple of options in the FileBooks Link Toolkit to point you in the right direction:

1. In the "Level I: Beginner" section, we have provided working "pass-through" files for common integration needs. These files allow you to import data using the standard FileMaker import dialog, then click a button to synchronize the data with QuickBooks. For example, the Customers pass-through file will automatically update corresponding customer records in QuickBooks, or add new records for the customers that do not exist.

2. In the "Level II: Intermediate" section, you will find working samples of specific tasks that can be achieved using FileBooks Link. Just check out the scripts in each of the files to see how the data is sent back and forth.

Good luck with your integration project, and feel free to let us know if you have any specific questions along the way. You can also email us at support@filebookslink.com if you would like to get contact information for independent developers who may be available to assist you with this project.

PC 1 - File Maker Pro 5.5 with Quickbooks 2005
PC 2 - File Maker Pro 6.0 with Quickbooks 2005

Installed FileBooks Link on both PC's along with the Quickbooks update.

I open Quickbooks and then open FileBooks Link Toolkit and File Maker Pro comes up running as FileBooks Link. It looks like FileBooks Link operates from within the File Maker Pro application and makes a connection to Quickbooks.

I am having great difficulty on where to go. I have many questions as I am new to this. I would like to know when I make a change in File Maker Pro how is it replicated to Quickbooks and Vice Versa.

Thanks in advanced.

Are you getting errors when you try to access QuickBooks from FileMaker? Or are you getting these errors when you're just opening the QuickBooks application?

If it happens when you open QuickBooks, without using FileBooks Link, then you should probably reinstall QuickBooks.

Geoff's right. FileBooks Link is compatible with QuickBooks Online Edition.

First, you will need to install the free QBOE Connector provided by Intuit. Then you can simply use the following command to initiate the connection from FileBooks Link:

     fbLink_Connect("QBOE")

FileBooks Link worked with QB Online in the prior version, and as far as I know it still does.

I asked at the Quickbooks Online website and they said no. Have you had any experience with Quickbooks Online? Is there a workaround?
